Diesel Fuel Mileage

A. Diesel Performance Chips (Computer Chips)- Many of today's engines are capable of significantly more power than they have when they are sold at the dealership. A computer chip essentially makes adjustments to the engines ECU which result in power increases. When you unleash this power, increased fuel economy is often a secondary result.
C. Performance Filters and Intake Kits (gas and diesel) One of the simplest products you can install to get better mileage is a performance air filter or intake system. Everything your engines does requires energy. Even pulling air in requires energy. Anything you can do to make that easier for your engine will result in better fuel economy. High flow air filters are washable and re-useable, they help increase power and throttle response as well as helping you gain a few more miles from your fuel tank.
B. & D. Performance Exhaust Systems Just like your engines intake, an inefficiently designed factory exhaust system can rob your engine of power and economy the same way. For example, try blowing through a tube the size of a Bic pen filler. Then try blowing the same amount of air through a soda straw. Which one required more energy? If your engine is always "forcing" the exhaust gases out, then it is wasting fuel to get the job done. By installing a larger diameter system with smooth mandrel bent radiuses, you will enjoy better fuel mileage and additional power from your engine.
Fuel Additives (gas and diesel) Whether it's gas or diesel, fuel additives are highly recommended around here. Diesel fuel additives boost cetane, provide better lubricity and pull moisture out of solution so it can become trapped in the water separator more efficiently. Propane Diesel Injection (diesel engines only) Propane injection for diesel engines has been around for years, and it can help improve your engines power and mileage. With a propane injection system you will burn propane at approximately a 1:4 ratio to diesel. (1 gallon propane per 4 gallons diesel) Typically, the increase in fuel mileage will pay for the propane, and in many cases the fuel economy gains will exceed the propane consumption. Propane injection will work for all diesel engines including older mechanical systems.
Diesel Fuel Injectors & Injection Pumps The injection pump and injectors are without a doubt the hardest working precision components on any diesel engine. If your injector opening pressures become low and the spray patterns are poor, the fuel will not atomize and burn as efficiently as it should. If your injection pump is worn or has fallen out of calibration, then the timing and fuel deliveries may be off and engine performance and fuel economy will suffer.
