Flowmaster Exhaust

Flowmaster Logo

Flowmaster® exhausts have been improving engine performance on the racetrack and on the road since the company opened in 1983. To provide a wider selection of options that would meet their customers’ needs, Flowmaster has created a plethora of different exhaust systems. Each Flowmaster Exhaust is tailored to a specific vehicle to help meet important performance goals, while also fine tuning the engine sound to bring out the best tones. While originally designed for cars heading to the race track, they are now available for most vehicle types including: trucks, SUV’s, Jeeps, and Vans.

At Parleys Diesel Performance, we specialize in providing quality aftermarket parts for diesel trucks and vehicles. We do not currently have every product on display on our site, but we do have the ability to find and ship you any product they have. If you don’t see an option for your vehicle, but are interested in the benefits that one of these amazing systems could add to your vehicle’s performance, then we invite you to call our helpline at 1-801-938-4891. We can check on the availability of options for your vehicle, and help you decide on which one would be best for your needs.

Why Choose a Flowmaster Exhaust?

Each Flowmaster Exhaust is Built Custom

Whether you put it together yourself or decide to purchase a Flowmaster Exhaust, what you will end up with is a custom built system tailored to your needs and desired experience. Consider that with Flowmaster you have over 12 designs of chambered mufflers, 3 different styles of “laminar-flow” mufflers, and a whole new line of FlowFX “straight-through” performance mufflers to pick from. Now add the fact there are 4 separate sound categories and you may suddenly realize that the possibility of getting that perfect sound for you is entirely possible.

Compare that to the experience that one has using a factory exhaust system. OEM systems are created for two purposes: base functionality and regulation compliance. Each one is made to provide the exact same sound and performance gains. There is no variability. Switching out your current factory exhaust system for a newer factory exhaust system may make a small, temporary difference if the system is in better condition, however, it will inevitably revert to a similar state as the one you currently have. Changing your factory exhaust system for one made by Flowmaster gives you the flexibility to both improve your engine’s performance and decide how you want it to improve.

Fine Tune Your Sound with a Flowmaster Exhaust

Flowmaster Exhaust Systems sport some of the highest quality mufflers on the market, which provide the change in tone and pitch to make every vehicle sound amazing. Better yet, thanks to the availability of different options for many vehicles, customers can choose which sound they like best. Whether you are looking for a mild, moderate, or aggressive sound, you can pick from different series options to modify tone and volume.

Decrease Engine Drone with a Flowmaster Exhaust

Engine drone is an awful, nerve-grating, annoying noise that happens when the vibrations of the engine and the vibrations of the exhaust system are out of sync. As these vibrations travel through the exhaust system they can bleed out into the chassis, where they travel up into the cab. They are most prevalent when the engine is revving at between 2000-3500 rpms, which is the sweet spot where engines should rest while driving. One benefit that stock systems have over aftermarket systems is that they are usually built in a way that diminishes engine drone. Increased engine drone is a drawback that many aftermarket systems have. Thankfully, Flowmaster's exhaust systems have been designed to reduce it.

A Flowmaster Exhaust can combat engine drone in one or more of the following ways:

  • Noise Cancelation

One way that a Flowmaster exhaust may be used to reduce engine vibration is by having multiple reflectors that channel the soundwaves so that they are directed in such a way as to cancel themselves out. This effectively reduces the engine drone because it stops the vibrations from reaching the cab.

  • Sound Control Valves

Many new cars come with special valves that help regulate the airflow, and enable the driver to have a certain amount of control over how loud their muffler can be. Flowmaster has built some of their exhaust systems to work with these already existing systems of valves while others come with valves that can be installed to have the same effect.

  • Muffler Design and Location

The shape and size of the chambers within the muffler play a large role in the exhaust system’s ability to reduce engine drone. Flowmaster’s mufflers, like the 50 Series Delta Flow and other inline resonators help control the vibrations.

The placement of the muffler in the exhaust system layout also plays a large role in the systems’ likelihood of creating more or less drone. One benefit of purchasing a pre-designed exhaust system by Flowmaster is that careful attention and testing has been placed with each to find the prime location for the muffler to help for maximum reduction of engine drone.

Sound options

Flowmaster Exhaust Systems come configured to four different sound options:

  • The Outlaw Series: This is the most aggressive of the four different Axle-back series. With one of these you are sure to turn heads when you ride into town—just like those old time desperados of the Wild West.
  • The American Thunder Series: Bring the majestic sound of a midwest thunderstorm with you everywhere you go with an American Thunder Flowmaster Exhaust. With a sound more moderate than the Outlaw Series, but still powerful enough to make people wonder if they should head for cover, these exhaust systems are a big hit with those looking to stir up a storm.
  • The FlowFX: Flowmaster Exhaust Systems in the FlowFX series use Flow FX "straight-through" mufflers which provide a sound level that ranges between aggressive and moderate, while still allowing for maximum performance.
  • Force II systems: Loud noises aren’t for everyone, and if you are someone who prefers a more moderate exterior sound and mild interior exhaust tone then the FlowFX may be the perfect exhaust system for you.

Appearance

Finish & Exhaust Tip Options

Flowmaster Axle-back exhausts look fantastic. They have pipes made from durable 409S stainless steel or aluminized steel and generally paired with exhaust tips that are either black chrome or polished stainless for a custom, eye-grabbing look. The number of exits on the system is dependent on which type of vehicle it was designed for. Some only have one exit, while others can have between 2-4.

Installation

Flowmaster Axle-backs are easy to install. They can be bolted on with the same hand tools that most people keep in their garage, and bolt into the same mountings and location that the factory exhaust system uses. For those needing additional instruction, Flowmaster has videos available on Youtube that explain the installation.

Axle-back Flowmaster Exhaust

Axle-back

Axle-back exhaust systems are great for people who like the feel and sound of a more aggressive growl from their engine. These Flowmaster Exhaust Systems are an affordable way to increase the power output of your engine. Thanks to their larger tubing, they provide better airflow for the exhaust gasses, reduce backpressure, and enable the engine to get more air for combustion.

Cat-back

Cat-back exhausts are exhaust systems that start at the catalytic converter and extend to the back end of the vehicle. If you are looking for an affordable option that provides a powerful improvement in performance and sound, then Flowmaster recommends their line of cat-back exhaust systems. With many different configurations and layouts of mufflers, tips, and mid pipes, you are sure to find an option that matches your performance and engine sound goals.
