K&N Engineering’s lifetime Replacement Air Filter for the 2003-2007 Ford Super-Duty 6.0L Powerstroke-equipped trucks incorporates a complete new air box as well as a replacement filter. Once the OE filter and housing is removed the K&N Replacement Air Filter and air box connects in its place.

K&N’s airbox is less restrictive than the OE filter. Unlike disposable filters, K&N Air Filters use a unique pleated design comprised of an oiled cotton fabric sandwiched between layers of epoxy-coated aluminum screen. These filters capture airborne dirt particles while allowing high volume air flow. These particles then cling to the outside of the filter and become part of the filtering media.

The filter that comes with the Ford Super-Duty is bonded into the airbox. With the Ford filter the entire airbox has to be replaced when you want to buy a new filter. With this K&N lifetime Replacement Air Filter Intake System, now it’s easy to slide your filter out, clean your washable and reusable filter, and put it back in the K&N Airbox.

K&N air filters consist of four to six sheets of cotton gauze layered between two sheets of aluminum wire mesh. This media is then pleated and oiled to enhance its filtering capabilities and overall performance. Engine Protection, Filtration

Anyone can flow more air. The trick is to flow more air safely. K&N Air Filter media has been tested both in-house and by independent labs using the ISO5011 test developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers. K&N designs filters with the maximum possible airflow achievable while providing guaranteed engine protection.

The Importance of Oil

A K&N Air Filter is made of 4 to 6 layers of cotton gauze sandwiched between two epoxy-coated aluminum wire screens. The cotton is treated with a specially formulated grade of oil causing tackiness throughout the cotton’s microscopic strands. The nature of the cotton allows high volumes of airflow, and when combined with the tackiness of the oil creates a powerful filtering media that ensures engine protection. In contrast, most other media can not maintain the same balance of airflow and filtration throughout the filter’s life without sacrificing one or the other.
